Although everyone is on high alert about coronavirus, celebrations and special occasions are still coming up. Birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays spent alone are discouraging and can add to the despondency of the current time. So, some of us are opting to have smaller, pandemic-conscious events that still feel festive and celebratory without being irresponsible. Here are some ways to plan a safe event during a pandemic.

Keep the guest list small – A party can still be fun and memorable with less than 10 people! Since most event spaces are closed, we have to host celebrations in our homes or outdoors. By keeping the guest list small you can ensure that your event will not feel crowded and claustrophobic, which leads to the next point.

Enforce social distancing – Whether you’re indoors or outdoors, you can move the chairs and seating so that they are farther apart, which promotes social distancing. Try to avoid standing too close to one another without a mask, even while eating or drinking.

Wash your hands – When guests enter and leave, ask them to wash their hands thoroughly with soap. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
